I am a PhD student at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. I  started my studies under the supervision of Professor Erik Eberhardt in Sept 2009.

I got my MSc and BSc from School of Mining Engineering, University of Tehran, Iran. I studied the strain-based failure criterion and its application to interpretation of measured displacement around underground openings under the supervision of Professor Mahdi Moosavi and Professor Mohammad Rahimian.

My major interests are:

  1. Brittle failure mechanism
  2. Instability potential characterization for underground openings
  3. Investigation of role of time, pore pressure, heterogeneity and loading rate on crack propagation
  4. Real stress-strain path during construction process (pre-excavation reinforcement,  excavation and support) around underground openings
  5. Design methodology
  6. Teaching Rock Mechanics

I hope to reach my goals in my academic life and one day become a good professor. Moreover, as teaching and learning methods are very interesting to me, I hope to improve the teaching and learning methods in rock mechanics and rock engineering field.

Entering UBC, I have got the opportunity to become a good teacher later as well as an active scientist and that is the reason that this weblog contains two major menus: rock engineering-related menu and teaching and learning-related menu  There are many programs at UBC helping graduate students to achieve their academic goals such as CTLT.
